Where and when can I book?

On Friday, October 4th, at 12:00 PM PDT, we will send out the booking links for our retreats to Patagonia, Morocco, and Japan exclusively via email.

The links will direct you to a TrovaTrip landing page where you can enter your information and pay your deposit (25% with options for payment plans/financing through Affirm—details below).

Will these trips sell out?

Yes! Most of our previous retreats have sold out within minutes. However, if you’re online when bookings go live, you should have no problem. We recommend being ready at 12 PM sharp on a computer (just easier, in my opinion) to enter your personal information and credit card details to lock in your spot!

Additionally, there are waitlists—and they work!!! If you can’t secure a spot, add yourself to the waitlist. Life happens—people need to cancel for various reasons. As spots become available, we’ll reach out in the order you joined the waitlist.

Can I sign up for more than one trip?

Yes! Please do! We recommend signing up for the retreats in order of your first and second preference, just in case spots go as quickly as we anticipate.

What’s due at sign ups?

A 25% deposit is due at the time of booking. You must pay in full 60 days before the first scheduled day of the retreat. TrovaTrip handles our bookings and logistics, and you can read their full refund policies and terms and conditions here.

Can I sign up for myself and someone else?

Yes! During booking, you’ll see a red button on the TrovaTrip landing page that says “Request a Spot”, you can change the number of travelers you’re requesting right above that button. We recommend this route to ensure you both get spots!

What happens after I “Request a Spot” on the retreat?

You scream and jump around your room or office because you said F*CK IT! The requests are approved within 24 hours. Sometimes we break the internet with these retreat launches, so we’ve buffered in time to help keep things running smoothly. You’ll receive an email that says, "Your spot has been approved" once it’s locked in!

Who is Trova Trip?

TrovaTrip is our AMAZING and longtime trusted partner in making these retreats possible! They handle the logistics of coordinating with local operators and hosting the booking platform so we can focus on curating the details of the trip and perfecting your experience. Once you sign up, expect communication from both TrovaTrip and The Reckless Optimists to ensure you have all the details you need leading up to your departure.

Can I finance my trip?

Yes! TrovaTrip works with trusted third-party vendor, Affirm, to provide flexibility in paying over time. You’ll see the option to pay using Affirm at checkout.

What does the cost of each trip include?

The cost of your trip includes your lodging, pre-planned group activities/excursions, transportation to and from pre-planned group activities, and some of your meals (specifics included in each trip itinerary).

Oh- And of COURSE we throw down with carefully curated swag bags and extra surprises and delights for each trip. C’mon, it’s us. STANDARDS, PEOPLE.

I’ve never done group travel. What can I expect?

Welcome to the good life! We know that group travel can feel intimidating… Especially when it’s with a group of folks you’ve never met.

Good news: The Reckless Optimists are the best people around. And while some of our community members know each other from past retreats or events, the majority of our trips have been made up of, well, for a lack of better words- total strangers! There is something very special about people who commit to retreat travel— and while everyone may come from different stages + phases, their likeminded priorities bring them together away from the noise of everyday life to experience new things. It’s basically a perfect recipe for fast friendships + lifelong memories. All that we ask is that you come with an open mind. And while it’s certainly not required, we have watched travelers walk away from trips with new forever friendships. It’s pretty damn special.

We promise, you won’t regret it.

Can I get my own room?

Yes, of course! When booking, you’ll see an optional add on to reserve a room for yourself. If you’re not quite sure whether you’d prefer single or double occupancy, you can add this option later.

Okay. Patagonia looks amazing- but I’m worried about the activity level. Can you elaborate?

DON’T STRESS. We get it—a 17-mile trek sounds like a LOT. And we're not going to sugarcoat it-It is a big undertaking (one you’ll be SO PROUD of accomplishing afterward). You can do hard things, and we guarantee you’ve done harder things before. In past trips, we’ve had travelers of ALL fitness levels. We take it at our own pace, with plenty of breaks, and prepare you properly with the fuel and equipment you’ll need. We’ll be with you every step of the way.

Will I have access to WiFi on all of these trips?

While we strongly encourage you to log off from your online responsibilities to fully immerse yourself in the retreat experience, most of our hotels do have access to WiFi. However, due to the rustic and remote locations we choose, it’s not always guaranteed.
